Where Next For Bitcoin?

Last week, we saw a surge in bitcoin price predictions from industry heavyweights, each backed by their expertise and research.

The most bullish was ARK Invest, which introduced a new model that discounted lost bitcoin. The model projects a bitcoin price of $2.4 million by 2030.

Ark Invest argues that most supply models don’t fully account for lost coins. When factored in, this, they argue, changes the dynamics and price potential for Bitcoin.

Standard Chartered joined the price debate and forecasts that bitcoin’s price will increase to $120k by the end of the second quarter. That’s a healthy 25% increase from current levels.

Arthur Hayes, founder of BitMX, expressed his view that ‘It’s time to long everything’ as the bitcoin price will reach $1 million by 2028.

His prediction was not based solely on the potential uplift in price from institutional or corporate investment. It was driven by his view that significant liquidity injections into financial markets are on the horizon, and liquidity is a key driver of bitcoin’s price.

Treasury buybacks and maturity changes would shape those liquidity injections.

He noted that Janet Yellen had pumped $2.5 trillion of liquidity into the system from 2022. Given current economic conditions and projections, Hayes believes that Scott Bessent will, and perhaps reluctantly, do the same.

The deficit will likely continue on an unsustainable path as the economy and tax revenues decline and government spending rose over the past quarter despite DOGE’s efforts to reverse the trend.

In his view, the tariff announcement’s shock to the financial markets and treasuries was just the start, with more shocks on the horizon.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Treasury has announced that it’s looking to enhance its buyback programme.

Perspective

The predictions remain just that. Predictions. They may be right, or they may be wrong.

Predicting where the bitcoin price will be in a month is challenging enough. The best approach is to watch the price action and prepare to react to price momentum and direction.

That said, predictions can provide an anchor point and permission to onboard with bitcoin’s potential.
